"Welcome to the USS Apache.  I am Master Chief Petty Officer Jarak'Mal, and I will be showing you around this most impressive New Orleans Class vessel.  Recently, I was assigned as Chief of the Boat for the USS Apache which is based out of Starbase 366. Admiral Jolene Miller is now in command of Sector 1121, taking over after Rear Admiral Linard resigned.

"While we make our way down the gangway here to the Apache, let me tell you a little about the her.  The Apache, a Type 5a New Orleans Class Starship, is intended as more of a battle wagon than the bigger Galaxy or Sovereign class vessels although technically classified a Frigate.   She packs quite a wallop in that role with 12 Type X phaser arrays and a dazzling array of torpedoes that can send all but the toughest starships scurrying."

"The Apache was originally launched on Stardate 1012.21 and has seen action in the Romulan Blockade, served off the Klingon border during the Klingon Civil War, and served in both the first and second Borg Incursion, and the recent Dominion/Alliance War."

"That is when she ended up here at Starbase 366. During a first contact mission with a culture that had recently discovered warp travel, Captain M'ret, Commanding Officer, was killed when members of a splinter faction from that culture attacked the negotiations center. Shortly after that incident, the Apache was caught in a major battle in the waning days of the Dominion/Federation War. The ship was badly damaged and ultimately needed to be towed back here to Starbase 366 where, for the last several months, she has been undergoing a major overhaul. Now, ready to launch again, the Apache has been refitted with the latest in Federation Technology and a new crew. Now, she is ready to take us to the stars once again."
